Expression of Beauty

Updated: Apr 11, 2021

For generations, beauty has been a cultural obsession. Beauty has been defined by a slender built body, narrow waist, defined jawline, high cheekbones, sharply angular nose, fuller-looking lips, light coloured eyes, and thick, long, flowing hair. It goes without saying, the definition of youthfulness and health. Outer beauty also serves as a reflection of how healthy you are on the inside. And being physically and mentally healthy plays an important part in determining how we feel about ourselves.

Looking as good as you like on the outside helps you to feel good about yourself, which serves as the foundation for developing a sense of authenticity and deeper purpose so many of us desire as we search for meaning in our lives. Being more authentic and happier on the inside in turn makes you physically more attractive on the outside.

However, beauty is much more than an aesthetic pleasure one beholds with their eyes. It is the power of self-expression by just ‘being yourself,’ and that confidence entitles you to real beauty. In today’s time, the expression of real beauty emanates from within - full and utter self-acceptance with a combination of charisma and confidence.

One’s wardrobe, makeup, and styling merely magnify your personality. However, the truth is that you are constantly deciding the persona you want others to perceive. The frequent struggles and challenges we face while trying to fit into society’s beauty standards have made us confused and insecure. We are always worried about how we look and how we are dressed. The beauty industry capitalizes on our insecurity and dissatisfaction with our looks by perpetuating images of unattainable beauty. We fret about blemishes in inopportune places. We exercise our bodies, we scrub our faces, we laser off hair in extremely sensitive areas, and we shove our bodies into shapewear we can barely breathe in once it's on. We forget that these materialistic tools are there just to enhance our personality. Being able to balance our inner and outer selves is extremely important.

Your aura, compassion towards others, and connection to humanity are where your true beauty exists. It is more about how you feel and how you define yourself and your life. It is about feeling good about yourself because you have strong self-esteem and a healthy, energetic existence that allows you to live your life to the fullest every day. This energetic frequency can then be easily picked up by one’s sight or felt by one's heart that can lead to a magnetic attraction to one’s soul; this contributes to your happiness by having strong and healthy relationships with others in your life.

Inner strength and beauty are also found in knowing your purpose in life and sharing that purpose by helping others to do the same. It is about going beyond the superficiality that surrounds you in your day-to-day life in order to explore and connect with the deeper and more meaningful purposes in your life. Knowing this purpose helps us to give more of ourselves to others and show gratitude for the unique gifts that have been given only to us to share.

The inner vision of beauty is personal, but its outer expression is universal. The happier you are, the more beautiful you look and feel, and the more you can share with others your purpose in life. Beauty is in being our true and authentic selves and reflecting our own unique expression of real beauty!!
